OPC Day Europe - Copenhagen

Copenhagen June 2017. ascolab presented at the OPC Day Europe which was hosted by Microsoft in Copenhagen, Danmark. Matthias Damm gave an overview on how Companion Specifications can be created. This years topic was "From Sensor to Cloud" and the two day event was a huge success. The approx. 130 attendees listened to innovative presentations that showed OPC UA in the context of Industry 4.0. In a pre-conference the base features of the OPC UA technology were presented. At the parallel micro fair with 12 exhibitors the attendees could get information on the various products that have incorporated the standard already.

 

Enhanced Board of Directors

Erlangen December 2014. In the 2014 election of the Enhanced Board of Directors (BoD) of the OPC Foundation Mathias Damm was voted for the 2015-16 term. Together with Stefan Hoppe (Beckhoff) and Russ Agrusa (Iconics) the board now has 7 members. The BoD is the group of leaders guiding the OPC Foundation as an organization and moving forward the OPC technology and its worldwide adoption. The 2015 BoD is formed by the following people:

  • Matthias Damm – ascolab
  • Thomas Hahn – Siemens AG
  • Stefan Hoppe – Beckhoff
  • Ziad Kaakani – Honeywell Process Solutions

OPC Day Europe - Esslingen

Esslingen May 2014. ascolab presented at the OPC Day Europe which was hosted by Festo in Esslingen, Germany. This years topic was "IT meets Automation" and the two day event was a huge success. The approx. 170 attendees listened to innovative presentations that showed OPC UA in the context of Industry 4.0. At the parallel micro fair with 21 exhibitors the attendees could get an insight picture on the OPC UA technology and the various products that have incorporated the standard already.

 

 

AIM goes OPC UA

Hannover April 2014. During the HMI the OPC Foundation and the AIM group (Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility) announced their technology partnership at the OPC Foundation press conference. Both organizations agreed to work together in a joint working group to specify a companion standard. The goal is to create a mapping of auto identification device data, like RFID readers and barcode scanners into the Information Modell of OPC Unified Architecture. Matthias Damm is supporting the group as an OPC UA expert representing the OPC Foundation. The first release candidate will be presented at the next HMI show in 2015.
