OPC (Openess Productivity Collaboration) is the base technology of industrial communication that became standard on windows based machines. PROFIBUS, the open industrial standard for field bus systems covers a wide range of applications and became international standard (IEC 61158). The requirements for modular, re-configurable machines and systems using distributed intelligence lead the actual technology development of the PNO (Profibus Nutzerorganisation e.V.) to a new solution that combines system integration, engineering and applications. This new and unique automation concept is called PROFInet.
