The first OPC Unified Architecture Book, written by Wolfgang Mahnke, Stefan-Helmut Leitner and Matthias Damm one of the co-founders of ascolab.

Success Stories of satisfied Customers

Development @ Siemens AG

The ascolab GmbH developed an OPC XML-Wrapper for the HMI system "WinCC flexible" that enables communication through the COM based OPC Data Access channel to XML-DA Web Services. Now distributed multi panel devices (Windows CE) can be connected through ethernet to the visualisation and all that without any complicated DCOM configuration.

Development @ OPC Foundation

The ascolab GmbH enhanced the certification concept for OPC servers and clients regarding the requirements of the OPC Foundation. Therefore on the one hand self certification of OPC servers was adopted to all specifications, and on the other hand the notification of test results was improved. ascolab serves the developers forum of the OPC Foundation (www.opcfoundation.org) and answers all questions related to certification.

Consulting and Development @ Siemens AG

For the department "Energy and Automation" an implementation concept for an OPC Data Access Server was worked out. This server connects the small controler "S7-200" and provides the open OPC interface. For this server and the related adress-space configuration software modules were designed and implemented.

Consulting @ Drewag GmbH

At the public utility company in the East German city of Dresden ascolab GmbH validated and advised an OPC connection between the heat and power distribution and the supplying plants in the urban area. Several "WinCC Servers" (Siemens AG), were connected via a redundancy-driver (Proxy-Server) to an Unix/Solaris based supervisory control system "Viewstar 750" (Cegelec GmbH & Co. KG). The redundancy-driver has been developed by Cegelec GmbH & Co. KG and allows to connect OPC-DA-Clients to redundant OPC-DA-Servers. For the development of the UNIX/Solaris based OPC-Client from Cegelec GmbH & Co. KG, the software product "EntireX-DCOM " from Software AG was used.
