Microsoft and the OPC Foundation sponsors a two day developer converennce on the Microsoft Campus in Redmond. Here OPC Members get a behind the sceens look on OPC Unified Architecture and Microsoft Indigio as the infrastruktur for upcomming web services. Technological highlights as well as migration strategies for existing OPC products are discussed into detail together with a close look on tools and technology. The ascolab GmbH presents the enhanced certification of the new OPC interfaces. The concept of certification for UA servers and clients will be published simultaneous with UA Specification, ensure highst quality of OPC products from the very first beginning.
The ascolab GmbH presents services arround OPC on the Hannover Fair. On the shared booth of the OPC Foundation (Hall 11, B 13) representing companies Cyberlogic, DVT Machine Vision, Fast Automation, Iconics, Siemens and Wonderware show their products together with ascolab. As in the former years the OPC booth became a highly frequented meeting point for OPC users, automation vendors and system integrators, discussing technical details in relaxed atmosphere. The special intrests are focused on the architecture of the new OPC UA interface (Unified Architecture).
On the booth of the OPC Foundation (Pavilion 6, Booth 118) ascolab GmbH presents services and software components to a large audience for the first time. During the technical congress, in parallel to the show, Matthias Damm explains the architecture and the new features of the "next generation" of OPC interfaces. This convention gives a first view on OPC UA (Unified Architecture). Together with ascolab other companies like Inat GmbH, Siemens AG, Kepware Technologies and Abacon represent themselves on the shared OPC Foundation booth. These companies show server and client products for the complete range of applications including plattform independance and redundancy.
The ascolab GmbH and Siemens hosted the first Unified Architecture Work Group Meeting in Europe. During three days the group started to bring the existing functionality of DA, A&E and Commands Specifications up to the new UA basis. This important meeting gave European OPC Foundation Members the chance to participate in the design of the next generation OPC. Besides the President Thomas J. Burke (Rockwell Software) and the Unified Architecture Committee Chair Jim Luth (Iconics) nearly 20 software architects from major companies like ABB, Beckhoff, Emerson, Matrikon, OSI Software, Yokogawa and others intensively worked together to push OPC UA into the next stage.
